I am coming to the realization that I need to stop trying to run right now. This hurts to type. I am on the verge of tears. I just don’t think I can take the mental anguish over trying and not being able to keep up with my #c25k training.
I’m not giving up forever, just going to take it off the ol’ “do asap” goal list for now. It’s back on the “do this year” goal list. I *hate* that I am stopping but I know it is what I have to do for righty.
I’m afraid that if I keep pushing the running, I will screw things up for the half marathon in July. So now I will focus on logging bigger distances in walking, and getting my walking pace below 15min miles.
I got the Team Challenge training plan which starts up at the end of March. I’ve been looking at the walking plan and the run/walk plan and I just don’t see myself being at the point to do the run/walk plan in 4 weeks. I want to keep pushing myself, but I think I need to start being realistic. I am raising money for a cause dear to my [...]

On Friday, I had a checkup with Dr. H. regarding my myriad of health issues. First, I talked with Nurse Debbie. I was bursting to tell her I lost almost 11 pounds. She was SOOO excited for me! She asked what I was doing and I said I was exercising and eating less. I made sure to point out that I’m not cutting anything completely from my diet, just eating smaller amounts of food. She agreed this is probably the best way for me to lose weight.
Pulse was good. Blood pressure was… (insert fanfare) 136/86. Still not great, but down from 149/92 in December! SCORE.
I also told Debbie about my plan to do a 5k in April and a half-marathon in July. I even told her about my breakthrough C25k moment last week. I also told her about something that happened during that run/walk that I didn’t share with y’all. I had a wardrobe malfunction. I was about 12 min into the intervals on the treadmill when I felt a li’l drafty. Figured it must be because I was running oh-so-fast. Then I did a “pants check.” Yep. Sure enough, my pants fell below my bootay. Luckily, I was wearing a [...]

First things first. I lost 1.4 pounds in the last week, bringing my total weight loss in 6 weeks to 10.6 pounds. Not too shabby. I updated my inspiration board too! I was e-mailing with my mom about this today and she said to me, “Do you realize that you’ve lost 10% of the weight you wanted to lose?”
Holy crap. I totally have.
I’ve also lost 4% of my total body weight in 6 weeks.
10.6 pounds is the equivalent of:
42 sticks of butter
5 liters of soda
7 dozen eggs
3.2 chickens
a 6-pack of beer
a 12-pack of soda
In case you were wondering…
Now, on to even BIGGER NEWS!
I started Couch to 5k this week. If you’ve followed my dailymile training, you know I’ve been struggling. Today was different.
I ran y’all. I RAN. I ran 100% of the time I was supposed to. I F*cking RAN. This is HUGE. The last time I did C25K, I averaged my running “speed” at 3.7-4.0. This is walking for y’all, but was jogging for me. Today I ranged between 4.1-4.7!!! It wasn’t until I was in the last running leg that I realized what I had just done.
I started sobbing, while I was running, on the [...]

First, the good news:
I lost 0.6 pounds this week! Considering what I ate this week and that I didn’t work out very much, I am SOOOO happy to have lost and not gained. I would have been happy to stay the same! Current weight: 265 with a total of 9.2 pounds lost in 5 weeks!
I signed up to do a half-marathon. Today I decided I want to run as much of it as possible. And no, I am not currently a runner, nor have I EVER been a runner. The most I’ve run since I was 12 was the mile they required us to run in high school gym class for the “fitness” test. And I walked most of that.
I have created a tentative training schedule for the next 23 weeks. the first 9 are the Couch to 5k program… followed by a half marathon walking training schedule for the following 14 weeks. Once I begin training with Team Challenge, I am going to adjust the last 16 weeks of this schedule accordingly… especially since I’m going to run as much of it as possible.

The bad news:
